Will Ferrell is sharing new details about his family life with wife Viveca Paulin and their three sons, Magnus, Mattias and Axel, according to E! News. The comedian joked on a recent podcast appearance that kids can be a lot of work, but he said in all seriousness that he knows he is lucky to have his family.
Ferrell and Paulin have worked to keep their sons grounded as they grew up around Hollywood and Los Angeles. He said they have taught the boys simple manners and the importance of looking people in the eye, shaking hands and saying please and thank you.
The couple’s relationship began before Ferrell became famous. According to E! News, they met through South Coast Repertory’s acting program after he graduated from USC, and after years of friendship and dating other people, their relationship turned romantic again in 1996.
Ferrell proposed at Woods Cove in Laguna Beach, where he and Paulin had their first date, and the two married in 2000. They later welcomed Magnus in 2004, Mattias in 2006 and Axel in 2010.
Ferrell also said he and Paulin have encouraged their sons to follow their own interests, including soccer, basketball, volleyball, music and acting. Magnus has signed with Republic Records, while Mattias and Axel are also pursuing creative and athletic interests.
