Authorities in France have arrested two men in connection with the death of Sonia Bellina, a TikToker known for her lip-sync videos, according to E! News and a translated release from the Nîmes Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Bellina’s body was found partially burned in a vineyard in Saint-Gilles on Aug. 12, prompting prosecutors to immediately open a murder investigation. An autopsy was scheduled for Aug. 13, but results have not yet been made public.
In a statement released Aug. 19, investigators said the two men were taken into custody because of evidence suggesting they may have been directly or indirectly involved in the case. A follow-up release on Aug. 20 said one of the men had been freed after investigators said the evidence did not establish involvement.
The second man remained in custody after an extension was approved. Bellina’s sister said the influencer had been reported missing on Aug. 10, and her family’s lawyer has asked for privacy as the investigation continues.
