Ariana Grande criticized the Team Trump TikTok account after it used her 2024 song “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)” in a video posted Aug. 20, according to Rolling Stone.
The clip showed President Donald Trump walking toward a podium, with on-screen text that read, “Me and my truth we sit in silence… Men can’t have babies and should never compete in women’s sports.” The post was captioned, “This shouldn’t be controversial! #trump #arianagrande #maga.”
Grande responded in the comments, writing, “Never use my music again. Also, your truth is false.”
This was not the first time the singer objected to her music being used by the Trump administration. In June, she criticized the White House after it used her song “Bye” in an ICE TikTok video, and a source told Reuters and Variety that her team was looking into removing the track from the post.
Trump has faced pushback from other musicians over the use of their songs, including during his 2024 campaign, as artists and estates have publicly objected and, in some cases, sent cease-and-desist letters, according to Rolling Stone.
