Tony Romo arrested in Milwaukee on OWI charge

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was arrested and charged with operating while impaired after a traffic stop in Milwaukee on July 23, according to the Milwaukee County arrest report obtained by E! News.

Police stopped Romo around 6:18 p.m. local time, and the report says he performed poorly on standard field sobriety tests. He was then taken into custody, booked and later released.

The records indicate the OWI charge is Romo’s first offense. According to WISN 12, Wisconsin does not treat a first OWI as a criminal charge and it typically carries a fine of $150 to $300.

Romo is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 21. E! News said it reached out to a representative for Romo for comment but had not received a response.

Hours before the arrest, the 46-year-old was taking part in the Wisconsin Amateur Championship golf tournament and spoke with TMJ4 about his interest in golf and football.
