Carnival Cruise Line is addressing a viral TikTok video that showed a passenger using one of the ship’s metal forks to scrape skin from the bottom of her foot. The company responded in a July 22 statement posted to Instagram, according to E! News.
In its statement, Carnival said forks are meant for food, not for foot care. The cruise line also said its crew quickly handled the situation once it became aware of what happened and removed the utensil from service.
Carnival added that cleanliness and hygiene are important onboard and said its crew works to maintain high standards across its fleet. The company said it wants guests to have a safe, clean and comfortable vacation.
The video, along with another clip showing the passenger scratching her foot and then eating pizza, has drawn more than 40 million views on TikTok. The original poster said the incident led to conversations with guest services and the ship’s captain, and disposable wooden utensils were provided for the rest of the trip, according to E! News.
