Tom Holland has explained why he and Zendaya have been so private about their relationship and wedding. According to E! News, Holland said their relationship is something they are “incredibly protective of” and want to keep as “sacred as possible.”
The couple’s privacy has long fueled public curiosity, especially after speculation about whether they had married. Their romance began after they met while auditioning for 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, though they spent years keeping things low-key before being seen kissing publicly in July 2021, according to the report.
Holland told Esquire that friends and family were not confused by AI-generated wedding photos that circulated online because, as he put it, “they were all there.” E! News reported that Holland proposed over Christmas in 2024 and that the two were married sometime before Zendaya’s stylist Law Roach said in March that the wedding had already happened.
Zendaya has also spoken about wanting boundaries in her relationship, saying she values privacy and wants to preserve things for herself, Holland, and their loved ones. The pair recently appeared together during the press tour for The Odyssey, which opens in theaters July 17.
