Villanelle have spoken to NME about new music in the works and plans for what they say could be a major 2027. The band made the comments backstage at Mad Cool 2026, where they also discussed recent festival dates and upcoming shows.
The grunge four-piece said they feel more connected as a band than before, with bassist Jack Schiavo, guitarist Ben Taylor and drummer Bleu Wright all describing the group as more settled and in sync. Frontman Gene Gallagher joked that they have been spending time around other bands and feeling more part of the wider guitar music scene.
Gallagher said the band is focused on new material, with an EP due by the end of the year and hopes for an album after that. Wright said the group is “locked in” creatively, while Taylor described the next songs as an evolution of what they have been doing this year.
The interview also saw the band dismiss speculation that their future plans might involve Oasis Live ’27, with Taylor saying the focus is on Villanelle. Their current EP, Measly Means, is out now, and they are due to play All Points East x Outbreak in London and Reading & Leeds in August, according to NME.
