The Molotovs will open King’s Cross Summer Sounds in London with a free show inspired by David Bowie, according to NME. The opening day of the festival is being presented in partnership with Lightroom, which is currently hosting an immersive Bowie-focused multimedia experience.
To mark Bowie’s legacy, the rising punk sibling duo will headline the day with a Bowie-inspired set. Ashaine White and former Magic Gang frontman Jack Kaye are also scheduled to perform on the bill.
According to the report, each act will include a Bowie cover in its set and the performances will celebrate Bowie’s influence on music today. The Molotovs’ Matt Cartlidge said the band is excited to play King’s Cross Summer Sounds and pay tribute to Bowie, calling the Lightroom show “phenomenal.”
The duo recently spoke to NME about Bowie as an influence on their own music. They are also preparing for a UK tour that begins September 3 in Cardiff and includes dates across the UK before ending in London, followed by October shows in Belfast and Dublin.
