Travis Barker’s 2008 plane crash is a central focus of the trailer for his upcoming documentary, Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear, according to Rolling Stone. The film, co-directed by Justin Krook and Michael Dwyer, looks at the Blink-182 drummer’s life and career, including his struggle with pain, grief and survival.
Louder Than Fear premiered at the Tribeca Festival in New York earlier this year and is set to stream on Hulu and Disney+ on Aug. 13. The documentary includes appearances from Taylor Hawkins, Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Barker’s wife, Kourtney Kardashian.
In the trailer, Barker says he became dependent on painkillers during nonstop touring. He recalls needing a security guard to watch him sleep to make sure he was breathing because he was taking so many pills.
Barker’s assistant Chris “Lil Chris” Baker and bodyguard Charles “Che” Still died in the crash, along with the pilot and co-pilot. Barker and Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein survived, though Goldstein died a year later from an accidental drug overdose. Barker later told Jay Shetty on the podcast On Purpose that he sensed something was wrong before the flight and that his daughter Alabama seemed unusually upset when he left.
