The Maccabees say new music is coming, with an album the goal

The Maccabees have said new music is in the works, with the band hoping that the material will lead to a full studio album, according to NME.

The London group are currently playing a run of outdoor UK headline shows, ending at Leeds’ Kirkstall Abbey on Friday, July 31. Their 2025 return marked their first performances together in eight years, following an emotional Glastonbury set and a major homecoming show at All Points East.

During their current run, the band has debuted a new song called “Ballad Of So Long,” and another unreleased track titled “She” was also listed among the songs they have been rehearsing. In a new interview with Radio X, frontman Orlando Weeks said the band now has several songs they have been working on while away from the stage.

Weeks said the aim is to keep developing the material after the tour and try to make it good enough for an album. Guitarist Hugo White added that bringing new songs into the set has given the group “a hint of the future.”

The Maccabees’ last album was 2015’s Marks To Prove It. Earlier comments from the band suggested there was no firm plan for new music when they first returned, but they now say they are further along than just talking about it.
