Susanna Hoffs of The Bangles has announced a new solo album called The List, according to NME. The 12-song record features guest appearances from Rufus Wainwright, Semisonic’s Dan Wilson, Edie Brickell and several others.
The album is scheduled for release on September 18 through Baroque Folk. Hoffs has also shared the first track from the project, “Casablanca.”
According to the press release cited by NME, the song was inspired by a rewatch of Casablanca and by a chance 1988 New Orleans encounter Hoffs had with the Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir. The release describes the track as a song about possibility and roads not taken.
The List was recorded at Hoffs’ home in Los Angeles and produced by CJ Camerieri. The album also includes “What Are Wings For,” a musical adaptation of Hoffs’ debut novel This Bird Has Flown.
Hoffs and her band plan to tour the U.S. in September ahead of the album’s release, including a five-night residency at New York’s Cafe Carlyle.
