AI music generator Suno was hacked in late 2025, according to a report from 404 Media cited by Pitchfork. The breach was not disclosed until now.
Leaked materials shared with writer Jason Koebler reportedly suggest Suno trained its model by scraping millions of songs and lyrics from YouTube, several stock music libraries, Deezer, and Genius. Suno had previously said it used publicly available music files and metadata, but the specific platforms and scale had not been known.
In a statement to Pitchfork, a Suno spokesperson said the company identified a limited security incident in November 2025 and contained it quickly. The spokesperson said the incident involved outdated source code no longer in use and that no sensitive personal information was compromised.
Suno is currently being sued for copyright infringement by Sony and Universal Music Group. The company is one of several AI music tools at the center of ongoing debate over how artificial intelligence is used in music.
