Steve Harvey is mourning the loss of his father-in-law, James Bridges Sr., who died June 1 at the age of 91, according to ABC 24 Memphis. Harvey shared a tribute to him in an Instagram post on June 5.
In the post, Harvey called Bridges “one of the best men” he had ever met and described him as “Pop Bridges.” He said he was grateful for Bridges’ example of faith, fatherhood and family.
Marjorie Harvey responded to her husband’s tribute with a thank-you message, while other friends and supporters offered condolences in the comments. Steve Harvey and Marjorie Harvey share three children together, and Steve is also father to four children from earlier marriages.
Bridges was also honored by his community in Memphis, Tenn., where a section of Bullington Avenue between South Parkway East and Taylor Street was renamed James A. Bridges, Sr. Avenue, according to ABC 24 Memphis. Harvey attended the dedication with his wife and said it was the first time he had been to a street-naming event for someone simply because “he was a great man.”
