Paris Jackson is reflecting on how music helped her through difficult times before she got sober. In a Vogue Beauty Secrets vlog shared July 10, the 28-year-old said music was the main thing that carried her through addiction before sobriety.
According to E! News, Jackson said that once she got sober, she realized how central music had always been in her life. She described it as something essential to her, saying it felt like the air she breathes.
Jackson also said she was hesitant to fully embrace music as a career, even though she had been playing guitar since she was about 13 or 14. She explained that she treated it like a hobby for years before deciding in her early 20s that she needed to pursue it because it made her happy.
She said other interests, including rock climbing, spending time with friends, and photography, also helped her through rough periods. Jackson celebrated five years clean and sober in January 2025, and said she is grateful that sobriety allows her to make music.
