Ellie Goulding will perform during halftime of England’s World Cup quarterfinal match against Norway, according to Billboard. The British singer announced the news on Friday and shared her excitement in an Instagram post.
Goulding posted photos of herself wearing a soccer jersey and jumping on her bed while celebrating the upcoming performance. In her caption, she said performing at the FIFA World Cup quarterfinal made it feel like “anything could happen.”
She also made clear she was backing England in the match. “I already know the boys will make England proud, it’s coming home,” she wrote.
England and Norway are set to play Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. The winner will move on in the tournament, which concludes with the World Cup Final on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Goulding has supported Team England in past World Cup runs as well. Billboard noted that after England won a major match in 2018, she jokingly teased “new music” before sharing a video of herself singing “Three Lions (Football’s Coming Home).”
