Sigrid says her sound sits between pop and rock ahead of Mad Cool 2026

Sigrid has discussed her balance of pop and rock in a new interview with NME, saying her music has “been somewhere in between” for the past 10 years. She spoke backstage ahead of her performance at Mad Cool 2026 in Madrid.

The Norwegian artist said she is proud to make pop music, but added that she has always drawn inspiration from a wide range of genres. According to NME, she said she tries to bring as many influences as possible into the studio.

Sigrid also said her latest album, There’s Always More That I Could Say, includes more guitars than her earlier work and takes in influences from Scandi indie pop and French music. She said the record still counts as pop, but with a heavier rock edge.

During the interview, she talked about recent live shows and the music she has been listening to lately, including Turnstile, Olivia Rodrigo, Holly Humberstone and TOMORA. Sigrid’s festival run is set to continue in North America before stops at Sziget in Budapest and Victorious Festival in Portsmouth, followed by two shows in Norway.
