Selena Gomez Says Wondermind Fraud Claims Are Completely Meritless

Selena Gomez’s legal team is denying allegations in a lawsuit that accuses her, her mother Mandy Teefey and co-founder Daniella Pierson of defrauding investors in their mental health startup Wondermind. In a statement to E! News, Gomez’s attorney Mathew S. Rosengart said the claims against Gomez are “completely meritless” and said the team plans to seek dismissal.

The lawsuit, obtained by E! News, was filed by limited liability companies Wondermind SRS 44 and Bespoke Wondermind SPV. It alleges that nearly $1.2 million was invested in Wondermind based on false representations, including claims that Gomez would be closely involved with the company.

According to the complaint, investors say they were not told about the startup’s difficulties and that promised partnerships and initiatives never came together. The suit also claims the app was never built and says founders and company leaders did not inform investors as the business was struggling.

The complaint references reporting from The Cut and Forbes about internal turmoil at Wondermind, including allegations involving Teefey and claims that Pierson was pushed out of the company. Pierson told the New York Times she denies the allegations and wants to show documentation and financial records that support her position.

Wondermind launched in 2022 as a mental fitness platform created by Gomez, Teefey and Pierson. Gomez previously said she wanted to use her voice in meaningful ways and credited her mother with helping inspire that approach.
