Ayra Starr’s third studio album, Starrgirl, was voted this week’s favorite new release in Billboard’s new music poll, according to Billboard.
Listeners chose the Nigerian Afropop artist’s album in a poll published Friday, and by the time voting closed on Sunday, Starrgirl had more than 87% of the vote.
The album outpaced several other new releases from artists including KATSEYE, Phoebe Bridgers, Troye Sivan and Becky G. Behind Starrgirl in the poll were KATSEYE’s “WILD,” Phoebe Bridgers’ Lost Weekend and Troye Sivan’s “She’s the Best.”
Starrgirl follows Starr’s 2024 album The Year I Turned 21 and includes 16 tracks. The project features recent single “Tornado,” the Grammy-nominated Wizkid collaboration “Gimme Dat,” and guest appearances from Zayn, Rema, Leon Thomas and Danny Ocean.
Starr has said the album reflects personal growth and was shaped in part by her move to New York, which she said helped inspire the new music.
