RM gave a heartfelt shout-out to Nas during BTS’ concert Sunday night at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, according to Billboard. While performing for thousands of fans, the BTS leader pointed out that the hip-hop legend was in the crowd.
“King of New York, big Nas is here tonight!” RM said on stage, adding that it felt “strange and wonderful” to perform in front of his teenage idol. The crowd responded with cheers as he thanked Nas for coming.
RM also posted a backstage photo on Instagram Stories showing himself and bandmate Suga with Nas. Nas later reposted the image and wrote, “AMAZING SHOW.”
Billboard noted that RM has long spoken about Nas as a major influence. In a 2021 Vanity Fair video, RM said Nas had been his idol for a decade and praised his lyrics and voice.
Sunday’s concert was BTS’ second MetLife show on its ARIRANG World Tour. The group is set to continue touring in the United States and Canada through early September before moving on to Latin American dates.
