Bob Dylan wrapped up his summer U.S. tour on August 1 at the Ascend Federal Credit Union Amphitheater in Nashville, Tennessee, according to Rolling Stone. The finale came after a stretch of shows that saw major changes in his guitar lineup.
During the Nashville set, opening act Jimmie Vaughan joined Dylan onstage for three songs. He first appeared five songs into the show for “False Prophet,” then stayed for Bo Diddley’s “I Can Tell,” and later returned near the end for “Goodbye Jimmy Reed.”
Rolling Stone reported that Dylan appeared to enjoy the exchange, smiling, laughing, and thanking Vaughan from the stage. Vaughan and Dylan have worked together before, including on the 1990 Under the Red Sky sessions, and they also shared a stage in Austin in April 2024.
The tour’s personnel has shifted repeatedly in recent weeks. Guitarists Doug Lancio and Bob Britt both left the band, while Julian Lage, Joel Paterson, and Jad Tariq have each filled in as schedule conflicts have allowed. Dylan is next set to resume touring in Europe on October 17 in Oslo, Norway.
