Sid Wilson, who has played turntables and keyboards for Slipknot since 1998, was reportedly fired from the band last Friday, according to Stereogum.
The reported split comes after a stretch of turnover in the group, following the departures of original percussionist Chris Fehn, original keyboardist Craig Jones, and longtime drummer Jay Weinberg.
Stereogum reported that Slipknot typically does not publicly comment when a member is dismissed, but TMZ said its unnamed sources inside the band claimed Wilson’s firing had been developing for some time because of the way he treated his bandmates.
Those sources also told TMZ that the band had been preparing to announce the move this week, but the outlet’s Friday report affected their plans. TMZ later said it caught up with Wilson in Los Angeles as he headed to a recording studio, and he did not respond when asked about the reported firing.
