James Ellis Ford has released a new solo single, “The Ever After,” according to NME. The track is the latest preview from his second solo album, “Lost In Another World,” which is due out on August 14 through Domino.
Ford said the song was written while he was in a hospital bed, where he was trying to improve his mood and concentrate on the positive parts of his life. He explained that his thoughts turned to his eight-year-old son, Frank, and the joy he brings to the world.
According to NME, Ford made “Lost In Another World” in just over two weeks in early 2025 while he was on a hospital ward between rounds of chemotherapy. He had been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia, an aggressive form of blood cancer.
The producer told NME last month that the album was created during a lonely and disorienting period, but that he was able to build ideas into a full record quickly after bringing in a laptop and microphone. The album follows his 2023 solo debut, “The Hum,” and includes songs that reflect on small moments, nature and time spent with his son.
