Global Water-Santa Cruz Water Company, Inc. has issued a precautionary boil water advisory for water utility customers in the City of Maricopa, according to InMaricopa.
The company says customers should not drink tap water unless it has first been boiled. The notice was issued after two preliminary tests suggested the water could be contaminated with E. coli, though the contamination has not yet been confirmed.
According to the advisory, Arizona Department of Environmental Quality rules require repeat samples to be taken at and near the area where the original positive tests were found. Results from that follow-up testing are expected in about 24 hours.
As of Oct. 7, 2026, residents should boil all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, and washing dishes. Global Water said it will continue testing and expects to share additional information by Oct. 8, 2026.
Customers with questions can contact Global Water customer service at 866-940-1102 or by email at customerservice@gwresources.com, according to the company’s notice.
