Five candidates are competing for two seats on the Maricopa Unified School District Governing Board this fall, according to InMaricopa.
Loraine Conley, a longtime educator and former MUSD administrator, said she is running to keep serving students and families. She pointed to student achievement, support for educators and fiscal accountability as her main priorities.
Patti Coutre is seeking re-election after more than 14 years on the board and currently serves as board president. She said she wants to continue focusing on academic achievement, safe schools, strong educators and responsible spending.
Lisa Garcia, who has served on the board for the past year, is also seeking another term. A longtime Maricopa resident and member of the Ak-Chin Community Council, she said she wants to focus on instruction, support for district schools and advocacy for families.
Latrinda Williams is running for the board for the first time. The mother, military veteran and community volunteer said she would emphasize connecting district spending to student results, working with the superintendent and strengthening district policy. Nicolas Yendrzeski, a 2024 Maricopa High School graduate, said his experience as an MUSD student inspired him to run, and he would prioritize civic education, communication and technology in schools.
