Latrinda Williams is running for a seat on the Maricopa Unified School District board, according to InMaricopa.
Williams said she is a mother of three, a military veteran and someone who has spent years volunteering with nonprofits. She said public service has been a regular part of her life through mentoring college students, helping with local causes, serving as a city ambassador and attending board meetings.
She said her decision to run came from what she sees as a gap in how public schools are valued. As a parent in the district, Williams said she believes clearer communication, stronger literacy support and more accountability could improve student outcomes.
Williams said she brings project management skills, including setting goals, tracking progress and helping groups work together. She added that her military experience taught her to lead with integrity and focus on the mission, which she says is serving students.
If elected, Williams said she wants families to feel heard, teachers to feel supported and students to leave district schools ready for what comes next. She also said she would closely review district spending, work with the superintendent and support policies that put students first while protecting teachers, finances and long-term growth planning.
