Pearl Jam made a surprise early appearance at Ohana Festival on Friday night, taking the stage during Eddie Vedder’s headlining set in Dana Point, California, according to Rolling Stone.
The band performed under the bill “Eddie Vedder and Friends” and introduced Abe Laboriel Jr. on drums, catching the crowd off guard with no advance hint that Pearl Jam would appear.
“Corduroy” opened the set with Laboriel behind the kit, followed by fan favorites including “Hail Hail,” “Scared of Fear,” and “Wishlist.”
Pearl Jam’s drummer position has been open since Matt Cameron’s departure in July 2025. The band had previously said it had selected a new member, but it has not made an official announcement, and it remains unclear whether Laboriel has officially joined.
Laboriel is known for his work with Paul McCartney and has also appeared on major stages around the world, including Super Bowl halftime shows. Rolling Stone also noted that he played on Vedder’s 2022 solo album, Earthling.
