Only two audition spots remain for Maricopa’s Got Talent

Only two audition spots remain for Maricopa’s Got Talent, according to InMaricopa. Rancho El Dorado resident Adam Orta is organizing the event, which is set for Aug. 29 at the Maricopa Community Center.

The auditions are open to Maricopa residents and include age-based categories, along with solo and group acts. The event begins at 5:30 p.m., and spectators can attend for free and vote for their favorite performers.

According to InMaricopa, the top 10 acts from the audition round will move on to a Sept. 12 competition at Duke’s Roadhouse. Judges there will pick three performers to headline Maricopa’s First Friday event in October.

Orta said he was inspired to host the competition after seeing First Friday posts from Councilmember Amber Liermann and wanting to get involved. He also said he hopes the event will help him find performers for future shows.

Orta has a background in comedy and event planning, and he said his work was shaped by his own path into comedy after a divorce and later by a near-fatal rollover crash while he was under the influence. He told InMaricopa he wants to bring healing through entertainment to the Maricopa community.
