Avenged Sevenfold have released a surprise new EP titled Statica, according to NME. The four-track project arrived without warning on July 24 and includes the songs “Lights,” “Statica,” “Rejoice” and “Ashes.”
The California metal band’s new release continues the more experimental sound they explored on their 2023 album Life Is But A Dream... and on 2016’s The Stage. NME reports that the EP leans on robotic vocals, sci-fi synths and electronic dance beats rather than the group’s more traditional heavy metal style.
Statica follows the standalone single “Magic,” which was released last December as part of an update for Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7. The band did not preview the EP before it arrived.
The release comes just before Avenged Sevenfold begin a co-headline North American tour with Good Charlotte, which starts July 25 in Ridgedale, Missouri. The tour includes a stop in Phoenix on Aug. 27 at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre.
