Maricopa police are bringing back their Cops and Cones event later this month as part of their ongoing community outreach efforts, according to InMaricopa.
The free gathering is set for 5 to 6:30 p.m. Aug. 26 at the Maricopa Library & Cultural Center, 18160 N. Maya Angelou Drive. Ice cream will be provided courtesy of Maricopa Water and Ice.
A department spokesperson told InMaricopa that the event gives officers a chance to meet residents, connect with families and children, and talk in a relaxed, welcoming setting.
Over the past three years, the Maricopa Police Department has also hosted other community events including Coffee with a Cop and Pizza with Police. Police said they want residents to feel comfortable approaching officers, asking questions, and getting to know the people behind the badge.
