Maricopa man faces new DUI charges less than a month after prior arrest

A Maricopa man was arrested on suspicion of DUI for the second time in less than a month after police identified his truck through a Flock camera system, according to a probable cause statement cited by InMaricopa.

Police said 59-year-old Gregory Picard was arrested Oct. 6 after officers received an alert for a white 2004 Toyota Tacoma registered to him. The alert indicated his driver’s license had been suspended after a May DUI, the statement said.

Officers later found the truck near Sonoran Desert Parkway and Manderas Lane around 3:47 p.m. and confirmed Picard’s identity. During the investigation, police reported finding an unopened shooter of New Amsterdam vodka in the truck’s cupholder and a cap from another New Amsterdam vodka bottle in the center console.

According to the statement, Picard showed signs of impairment during three roadside sobriety tests. He declined to provide a blood sample, so officers obtained a warrant and had his blood drawn later that night. He was booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Center on charges that included driving with a suspended license and three DUI-related counts, among them aggravated DUI allegations tied to a suspended license and two prior DUI arrests within 84 months.

InMaricopa reported that Picard had also been arrested Sept. 16 after police responded to a reported altercation involving a man and a woman. In that case, officers said they saw him drive erratically and show signs of impairment, leading to allegations that included aggravated DUI, disorderly conduct, assault, reckless driving and driving on a suspended license.
