With the primary election only days away, Nicolas Yendrzeski is organizing one more chance for Maricopa voters to hear directly from city council candidates before casting their ballots, according to InMaricopa.
The online debate is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday and will stream on Facebook and YouTube through his podcast, The Controversy. The event will feature Adam Leach, Tena Dugan and Vice Mayor Vincent Manfredi.
Yendrzeski said he designed the forum with last-minute voters in mind, especially people who have not yet returned their ballots or plan to vote on Election Day. He told InMaricopa that he wanted a setting where candidates could challenge each other’s ideas more directly than in some earlier forums.
The debate is expected to cover infrastructure and transportation, sustainable development goals, campaign ethics and questions submitted by viewers. Yendrzeski said he hopes the discussion will offer more civil disagreement and help voters better understand where the candidates stand.
He also noted that getting people to attend candidate events in Maricopa can be difficult, with some recent forums drawing small crowds. Still, he said local elections matter at every level of government, even when there is no presidential race on the ballot.
