Fiona Apple has released a new song called “Horns of a Bull,” which serves as the theme for the Apple TV series Lucky, according to Pitchfork.
The track runs for nearly two minutes and features pattering drums, warm piano chords and Apple’s sing-spoken delivery. Pitchfork reports that the song later shifts into a growling mid-song passage.
Lucky is a miniseries based on Marissa Stapley’s 2021 novel. The story follows an international con woman, played by Anya Taylor-Joy, as she is pursued by FBI agents played by Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor and Mo McRae, along with a ruthless crime boss played by Annette Bening, after a multimillion-dollar heist goes wrong.
Apple co-produced “Horns of a Bull” with Amy Aileen Wood, her drummer and the wife of Lucky showrunner Cassie Pappas. Pitchfork notes that the new song continues in the style Apple has been exploring since Fetch the Bolt Cutters.
