The Maricopa Arts Council is planning an open mic night on Saturday, Aug. 22, at Honeycutt Coffee, according to InMaricopa.
The event starts at 7 p.m. and is open to a range of performances, including music, poetry, dance and comedy. MAC co-founder and co-director Judith Zaimont said the group wants to provide an outlet for local talent that has not had a place to perform.
At the moment, the lineup includes eight acts. Those performers include musicians, a slam poet, a storyteller and two singers.
The showcase will also give two Maricopa slam poets a chance to represent the city in the 2026 All Arizona Poetry Slam Championship. According to InMaricopa, past open mic events have featured classical guitarists, Broadway-style singers, comedians, storytellers and slam poets.
Performance spots are still available, and the deadline to sign up is Aug. 20. Interested performers can register at [email protected].
