Leven Rambin says a routine surgery for endometriosis became a life-threatening emergency when doctors accidentally nicked her aorta, according to E! News.
In a July 10 TikTok video, the Hunger Games actress said she went in for a laparoscopic procedure expecting to recover in time for a Netflix job she was supposed to start in two weeks. Instead, she woke up to doctors telling her they had saved her life after the complication.
Rambin said surgeons immediately performed repair surgery and gave her a blood transfusion. She also shared that her mother flew in while she was being treated and that she has been taking multiple medications during recovery.
The procedure did confirm stage 1 endometriosis, along with polyps, but Rambin said the medical emergency forced her to quit the Netflix project she had been set to star in. In later TikTok videos, she said she was walking in the hospital as part of her recovery and described the ordeal as traumatic.
Rambin, who married event photographer Dawson Smith last July, said on Instagram that the road ahead will be long but that she is determined to heal and start a family.
