Producers of Love Island USA told the Islanders that Alannah Keyser had left the show for a personal reason, according to Parmida Keshani in an interview with People published July 11.
Keshani said she was told Keyser’s departure was due to “personal reasons,” and added that she hoped everything was okay after learning she was gone. She also said the cast had to keep moving forward after Keyser’s exit.
Keyser was removed from the show after resurfaced videos and screenshots circulated online showing her using a racial slur. E! News reported that her exit was briefly acknowledged on the June 25 episode, when narrator Iain Stirling said, “Alannah has left Casa Amor.”
Keyser later addressed the controversy in a June 27 TikTok video, saying the situation hurt her and that it had been a learning experience. She also said she does not support racism or discrimination of any kind.
