Kesha is sharing the story behind one of her most unusual habits: collecting human teeth. In a July 15 episode of Las Culturistas, the singer said the hobby began after she became close with fans and someone offered her a child’s lost teeth, according to E! News.
Kesha said she originally hoped to turn the teeth into jewelry. She told the show she made a necklace, an earring, a belt and even a crown before the collection took on a life of its own.
She also said part of the appeal was that the idea unsettles some people. Over time, she explained, she began keeping the teeth in jars around her home.
Kesha has talked about the collection before, including on Call Her Daddy in May, where she said the teeth remind her of the people and pets she loves. She said the habit dates back to at least 2012 and added, “I’m like the tooth fairy.”
