Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme defied a reported $10,000 smoking fine during the band’s recent show at Detroit’s Ford Field, according to NME.
Homme complained during the August 6 performance that the venue had a no-smoking policy and said the band could be fined $10,000 for smoking backstage. Metro Times also reported that he was frustrated by not being able to find a place to smoke.
As Queens Of The Stone Age closed their set with “Song For The Dead,” Homme addressed the crowd and urged fans not to let “corporate assholes” tell them what to do. He then lit a cigarette onstage.
It is not known whether Homme was actually fined. Queens Of The Stone Age are currently opening for Foo Fighters on their North American stadium tour, which began in Toronto on August 4 and runs through September.
