Joe Jonas says the disappointing performance of his first solo album pushed him to seek therapy after he began having panic attacks. He discussed the experience on a recent episode of the Hey Jonas! podcast, which he hosts with his brothers Nick and Kevin.
According to NME, Jonas said he expected Fastlife to match the success his band had found and tied the project closely to his own self-worth. The album peaked at No. 15 in the U.S., while its lead single, “See No More,” reached No. 92.
Jonas recalled developing panic attacks and physical pain and said a doctor told him he was healthy but suggested he speak with a therapist. At first, he resisted the idea and instead went on long bike rides to stay away from his phone.
He later decided to talk to someone and said that opening up helped him during that period and in other major moments in his life. Jonas returned to solo music last year with Music For People Who Believe In Love, his first solo album under his own name in 14 years.
