Slipknot guitarist Jim Root has responded to reports suggesting longtime DJ and keyboardist Sid Wilson has been removed from the band. In an Instagram Story posted after the rumours surfaced, Root told fans not to believe everything they read and urged them to wait for more information, according to NME.
The comments came after TMZ reported on Friday night, July 31, that Wilson had been permanently kicked out of the group. As of now, Slipknot has not issued an official statement confirming any split.
Root did not mention Wilson by name in the post, which was set to Slipknot’s “Til We Die.” He wrote that people should stop, think, and take a breath before reacting to the news.
The report arrives as Slipknot continue to work on new music. Drummer Eloy Casagrande said last autumn that the band had been creating material, while Root said earlier in 2025 that he had finished six arrangements for a new album, according to NME.
