Jason Alexander is apologizing for his part in a 2012 Funny or Die sketch that featured Courtney Stodden and her then-husband, Doug Hutchison, according to E! News.
In the parody, Alexander played a fictional life coach and interviewed the couple about their relationship. The sketch included a moment where he took his phone camera to Stodden’s breasts and made a sexual joke about the phone signal.
After Stodden recently said the experience affected her negatively, Alexander said in a statement to E! News that he now agrees the sketch was inappropriate and regrets taking part in it. He also said he is deeply sorry for any harm or distress it caused Stodden.
Stodden, now 31, wrote on Instagram that she was a minor at the time and said adults made the decisions around her participation. She said she felt alone on set and described her body becoming part of an adult joke.
Stodden has since become an advocate against marriage licenses for anyone under 18. E! News said it reached out to Hutchison’s representative for comment but had not heard back.
