Jackie, the bald eagle made famous through a livestream camera from Friends of Big Bear Valley, is recovering after being found grounded in California following an apparent attack, according to UPI Odd News.
The eagle went missing from her nest last week and was rescued Saturday by the L.A. County Parks & Recreation San Dimas Raptor Rescue Team after being found stranded on the ground. Friends of Big Bear Valley said Sunday that experts are confident the bird is Jackie.
Jackie is now being treated at the Ojai Raptor Center. Officials there said she appears to have avoided broken bones or other serious injuries, though additional tests are being done to see whether she is healthy enough to return to her nest.
Friends of Big Bear Valley said the likely attack involved two younger eagles. In the meantime, Shadow has continued caring for the couple’s eaglets, Sandy and Luna, while protecting the nest and territory.
