Chris Brown pleaded guilty on Friday to a charge of affray in connection with an alleged attack at a London nightclub, according to Rolling Stone. The more serious charges in the case were dropped during the hearing.
Brown had been arrested in May 2025 and previously faced charges including assault, grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon, described in court records as a tequila bottle. The incident at the center of the case took place in February 2023.
According to the BBC, Brown and his co-defendant Omololu “Hoody Baby” Akinlolu both entered guilty pleas to affray after earlier pleading not guilty to the other charges. The affray charge relates to conduct that caused fear for personal safety in a public place.
Both men were released on bail after the hearing and are scheduled to return to the U.K. on Sept. 26 for sentencing. They each face a maximum sentence of three years in prison.
Crown Prosecution Service senior prosecutor Claire Campbell called the incident a “vicious and unprovoked attack” and said Brown used a glass bottle to strike the victim’s head twice. The victim, music producer Amadou “Abe” Diaw, previously filed a $16 million lawsuit over the incident, but dropped it in June 2025.
