Kelsea Ballerini has teamed up with singer-songwriter Patrick Droney on the new single “Math of Us,” a heartfelt track featured on Droney’s album Made You Look, which is out now, according to Rolling Stone.
The song arrived with a video showing the two artists performing together in Sunset Park in Brooklyn. Droney directed and edited the clip, and he said he chose the location for its view of New York City from the bench where much of the video was filmed.
In a statement, Ballerini said she listened to the album on a walk along the West Side Highway and kept coming back to “Math Of Us.” She described the song as being about fear, presence, and the love people hope to find on life’s journey.
Droney called the song an “unspoken conversation” and said it reflects the way people quietly calculate moments in ordinary life. He also said the collaboration meant a lot because the two have Nashville in common, while their creative work together in New York gave the project added meaning.
Droney’s North American tour in support of Made You Look is set to begin Oct. 14 in Los Angeles.
