Chris Anne Affleck, the mother of actors Ben Affleck and Casey Affleck, has died at age 83, according to a Boston Globe obituary published July 24.
Her family said she died on June 2 after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December. The obituary said she had been given six months to live after her diagnosis, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Born Christopher Anne Boldt in 1942 in New York City, she later became a teacher, literacy instructor and activist. Her obituary said she taught public school for 35 years and protested against the Vietnam War.
Chris and her ex-husband Timothy Affleck welcomed Ben in 1972 and Casey three years later. The family later moved to Massachusetts, where she continued teaching and remained a major influence on her sons, who both went on to careers in acting.
According to her obituary, one of her final wishes was to see her grandson Atticus graduate from high school. The obituary said she attended that milestone with family on May 31, 2026, and died peacefully in her sleep two days later.
