Chapman thanks supporters after 48-vote primary loss

Tom Chapman is thanking friends, family and supporters after narrowly losing his primary race by 48 votes, according to a letter published by InMaricopa.

In the letter, Chapman said the campaign had already accomplished something important by drawing attention to courtroom operations and time standards. He said the current Justice of the Peace was pushed to expand the courtroom calendar from two days a week during the race.

Chapman also wrote that, before running for office, he had not been familiar with court time standards and believes that information should be shared more openly with the public. He said the issue had become a “big eye opener” for him during the campaign.

He closed by thanking his wife, Charly, as well as family, close friends and everyone who supported his run, and he thanked Maricopa residents for their conversations and encouragement.
