Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter Zahara Jolie-Pitt has taken another step toward legally changing her name, according to court documents obtained by E! News.
The 21-year-old previously filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on June 4 to remove Pitt from her legal name and be known as Zahara Marley Jolie. Those documents said she signed the petition on April 28, shortly before graduating from Spelman College with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology.
As part of California’s name change process, Zahara published notice of her petition in the Los Angeles Daily Journal. State law requires that notice to appear in a local newspaper for four straight weeks, and anyone who objects must file a written opposition before the final hearing.
At Spelman’s May 17 commencement ceremony, Zahara was called to receive her diploma without her father’s last name included. E! News said it reached out to representatives for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt but did not receive an immediate response.
Zahara’s older sister Shiloh also legally dropped Pitt from her name in 2024. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt share six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne.
