Wolf Alice have released a cover of The Roches’ “Hammond Song,” teaming up with Sunflower Bean’s Julia Cumming and Bria Salmena for the recording, according to NME.
The track was recorded in Los Angeles during sessions for the band’s latest album, “The Clearing.” Frontwoman Ellie Rowsell said the song had long inspired the group, including the guitar work and vocal style.
Rowsell added that recording the harmonies in LA, where Cumming and Salmena were living at the time, made the collaboration feel like a fun chance to sing with two artists they admire.
The cover is the second song to be released from Wolf Alice’s upcoming digital 7-inch B-sides package. The full release is set for August 21, marking one year since “The Clearing” came out.
