About 15 pigs were reported running loose on Route 565 in Frankford Township, New Jersey, on Wednesday morning and were said to be creating a hazard for drivers, according to UPI Odd News.
The Wantage Township Animal Shelter said on social media that Wantage Animal Control officers responded along with New Jersey State Police around 8:38 a.m. to help handle the situation.
Responders worked to guide the pigs back to a nearby property, and the owner of the animals later arrived to help bring them under control.
The shelter said all of the pigs were safely back home and reminded drivers to slow down and stay alert when emergency responders are working on roadside incidents. It also warned against using a phone to take photos or videos while driving.
