Australian jury convicts Yung Filly of assault in Perth case

An Australian jury has convicted British social media celebrity and rapper Yung Filly of assault in a case involving a fan after a music performance two years ago, according to ABC News.

The 30-year-old entertainer, whose legal name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, was found guilty of two assault charges that related to biting the woman. Jurors did not find him guilty of allegations that he raped or choked her.

Barrientos had denied the accusations during his eight-day trial in the District Court of Western Australia in Perth. He had pleaded not guilty to six rape charges, three assault occasioning bodily harm charges and one count of choking stemming from an incident in a Perth hotel room in September 2024.

According to ABC News, the jury deliberated for three days before reaching its verdicts. Barrientos wept when the verdicts were read, and he remains free on bail until the case returns to court on Aug. 21 to discuss next steps.

Prosecutors said the woman initially consented to sex but later withdrew that consent because she feared for her safety. The court also heard that photos showed bruising and bite marks on the woman’s face and neck.
