Wildfires burning across parts of the northeastern United States and southern Canada are causing dangerous air quality and forcing several artists to change their touring plans, according to Rolling Stone.
The Black Keys postponed their Chicago concerts and said the shows have been rescheduled for Oct. 20 and 21. The band said current tickets will still be honored and that the venue will contact ticket holders directly.
John Mellencamp also postponed a July 16 concert at Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan, after guidance from public health authorities. According to a statement shared on Instagram, Ticketmaster buyers will receive automatic refunds, while those who bought through third-party resellers will need to contact the seller.
Other affected performances included Mavis Staples’ SummerStage show in New York City, which was canceled because of unsafe air quality, and War and Treaty’s performance at Robert F. Wagner, Jr. Park, which was also canceled due to the city’s state of emergency tied to wildfire conditions. Creed postponed its July 16 show in Minnesota because of unsafe air conditions from the Canadian wildfires, moving the concert to Sept. 5.
